Description
This black and white illustration is Ambrose Powell Hill Jr., a Confederate general who was the commander of the "Light Division" in the Seven Days Battles and became one of Stonewall Jackson's ablest subordinates, distinguishing himself in the 1862 battles of Cedar Mountain, Second Bull Run, Antietam, and Fredericksburg. Hill is depicted wearing a dark, double-breasted military uniform. Hill's signature is depicted beneath the illustration. This illustration is from volume seven, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
