This black and white illustration depicts men in military uniform with guns and swords. Some men are on horseback, some are on foot, and some are lying on the ground. Some me are depicted rolling a cannon and a horse is depicted as lying on the ground. Drums, wagons, wagon wheels, and trees are also depicted. "Battle of Gettysburg" is Captioned below the illustration and "From the original painting by Chappel in the possession of the publisher" is beneath the caption. The publisher is named at the edge of the page. This is illustration is in volume seven, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
