Description

This black and white illustration depicts a map of the Mississippi Valley, including border states of Alabama, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Indian Territory. The Mississippi River is depicted with the mouth of the river into Gulf of Mexico. A scale is provided though there is no key to the map. The map spans pages 114-115 of volume seven, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay and is captioned "Campaign in the Mississippi Valley I." and "Campaign in the Mississippi Valley II," respectively. The book title, "Abraham Lincoln" is at the top of page 114 and the section title "Preludes to the Vicksburg Campaigns" is at the top of page 115.
