Description
This black and white photograph is of Carl Schurz, a Union general in the American Civil War. Schurz is standing with his right elbow resting on a cloth covered table, hat in hand and wearing a dark, double breasted military uniform, with shoulder boards and a belt at the waste. The photograph is a CDV (carte de visite) that was found tipped into pages 242-243 of volume seven, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
