This black and white illustration is of General Alfred Pleasanton, a United States Army officer and major general of volunteers in the Union cavalry during the American Civil War. Pleasanton is depicted in a dark, double-breasted military uniform with star-studded shoulder boards and a white handkerchief in the left breast pocket. Pleasanton's name is captioned beneath the illustration.
