Description
This black and white illustration is of General Leonidas Polk, a bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana and founder of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Confederate States of America, which separated from the Episcopal Church of the United States of America. Polk s depicted wearing a white robe with a high collar and dark stole. Polk's name is captioned "General Leonidas Polk, Bishop of Louisiana" beneath the illustration. The illustration is in volume eight of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
