Description

This black and white illustration is a map of North Anna, a battle fought May 23–26, 1864, as part of Union Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's Overland Campaign against Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. The Map is from surveys under the direction of Brigadier General N. Michlier, Major of Engineers, 1867. Both union and Confederate works are marked. The caption beneath the map reads "Note: Ox Ford is otherwise known as Anderson Bridge and Ford. Anderson's Station is Verdon, and the Ch. Cady house is J. Anderson's. The illustration is from page 388 of volume eight of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
