Description

This black and white illustration is of Cadmus M. Wilcox, a career United States Army officer who served in the Mexican–American War and also was a Confederate general during the American Civil War. Wilcox is depicted seated with one hand tucked inside his coat and the other holding a hat while wearing a grey, double-breasted military uniform. The sketcher's name, Charles B. Hall, is identified along the bottom edge of the illustration and Wilcox's signature is depicted beneath. The illustration is from volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
