This black and white illustration depicts the stage and proscenium of the interior of Ford's Theater as it appeared the night of Lincoln's assassination. The caption beneath the illustration identifies the scene. Text on the bottom half of the page, below the illustration is from a chapter about the fourteenth of April. The illustration is on pages 296-297 of volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
