Description
This handwritten letter, dated October 12, 1852, is written from Ninian W. Edwards to August C. French serves as Edwards' resignation from his seat as a member of the French General Assembly of Sangamon County, Illinois. The back of the letter contains a summary of the letter and addresses the letter to Gov. French, Springfield, Ill. Some notes are written in pencil at the bottom of the front of the letter noting that Edwards was Lincoln's brother-in-law at whose home he and Mrs. Lincoln were married. A note written in pencil along the edge of the back of the letter appears to archivist notes.
