Description
This illustration is of Gottfried Kinkel, seated and has chains on his wrists. Kinkel is depicted as wearing a dark coat, pants, and tie with a white shirt. Hay can be seen on the ground beside his seat. "Gottfried Kinkel in Chains" is captioned beneath the illustration. Kinckle German poet also noted for his revolutionary activities and his escape from a Prussian prison in Spandau with the help of his friend Carl Schurz.
