Description
The commemorative lithograph/advertisement was published by the Sangamo Insurance Company shortly after the death of Abraham Lincoln. It advertises six illustrations of areas of interest in Illinois, including Lincoln's tomb, his Springfield home, and other sites of interest. After the death of Lincoln, the nation took interest in Lincoln's life, and many companies were quick to capitalize on this newfound curiosity. This broadside is an example of the commodification of such tourism.
