Description

The picture frame is made into the style of an Oxford frame, which is characterized by its sides that overlap at each corner. This particular frame features intersecting corners that are adorned with maple leaves. This style was popular in the late nineteenth century and was commonly referred to as Rustic or Currier & Ives frames, nicknamed for the American printmaking business whose prints often were displayed in this style of frame.
