Portrait of Maria Feodorovna in crown, Empress of Russia

Biography

Maria Feodorovna was a daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark. In 1866, she married Alexander III, the Crown Prince of Russia. She later became Queen Consort when her husband succeeded to the throne of Russia. In St. Petersburg Russia, Mrs. Grant met the future Czarina Maria Feodorovna and conveyed a message from her mother the Queen of Denmark. Mrs. Grant had met the Queen of Denmark before going to Russia and had asked the Queen if there was any message she would like to send to her daughter. The Queen of Denmark asked Mrs. Grand to send her daughter a message of her love.
