Transcription

The State of Mississippi, Lowndes County, charged J. D. Griffin with treating slaves with inhumanity in 1859. Specifically, the court accused Griffin, late of said county, being entitled to the services of an unnamed enslaved person, did then and there inflict, of cruel and unusual punishment upon said enslaved person.
