Description
Fourty-two pages of original court documents from the State v. Anderson case dating 1839. The case was heard in the State of Mississippi Lowndes County Circuit Court.
Transcription
The State of Mississippi, Oktibehha County, charged Edward Anderson with murdering an enslaved boy named Mingo on October 2, 1839 in a field belonging to J.M. Trotter in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi with a shotgun valued at five dollars. Mingo was the property of W.H. Mayo, of Columbus, but was in the employ and possession of John M. Trotter, of Oktibbeha County.
