Twenty pages of original court documents from the State v. Hague case dating 1842. The case was heard in the State of Mississippi Lowndes County Circuit Court.
Transcription
The State of Mississippi, Lowndes County, charged Adeline Hague with murder of her infant female child in June 1842. At the time of the trial, Hague, a single woman, was living in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. The body of the victim was concealed by both Hague and an enslaved woman named Mary. Jeremiah Moore found the body of the infant while plowing on the day the child was born. Hague claimed the child was born deceased.
