Description
Six pages of original court documents from the State v. Kennon case dating 1859. The case was heard in the State of Mississippi Lowndes County Circuit Court.
Transcription
The State of Mississippi, Lowndes County, charged F. A. Kennon with default when he failed to appear when summoned to give evidence on behalf of the plaintiff in case #1317 against Percival F. Halbert in 1859. He was charged a $100 fine. Percival F. Halbert was charged with inflicting cruel punishment to an enslaved woman named Lucy, belonging to William H. Kennon, on October 20, 1856.
