Includes the transfer of enslaved persons Edwin, (yellow) Claiborne, (little) Claiborne, Milly & her two Children Elizabeth & Louisa from Robert Dunbar to his son William Dunbar; the transfer of enslaved persons (old) Longford & Mary his Wife, Noah, Trim, Flora & her three children Peggy, Grace & Patsey and their natural increase from Robert Dunbar to his daughter Jane Ferguson; the transfer of an enslaved man named young Longford from Dunbar to his daughter Elizabeth Benoist; the transfer of enslaved persons (old) Romeo, Humphrey, Elbert, Tilda, Eliza & her child Lucy with their natural increase from Robert Dunbar to his son James Dunbar; the transfer of enslaved persons Dave, Bess, Harry, Aggy, and William with their natural increase from Robert Dunbar to his daughter Charlotte Newman and her heirs; the transfer of enslaved persons (old) Harry, (young) Romeo + (young) Emanuel from Robert Dunbar to his son Joseph Dunbar; and the transfer of enslaved persons Solimon, Lewis, (old) Emanuel, his wife Hannah and their four children Thomas, Henry, Andrew and Harriet with their natural increase from Robert Dunbar to his son Samuel Dunbar.

Transcription

In the name of God, Amen. I Robert Dunbar Sen. of Adams County and State of Mississippi, planter, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound mind and memory (blessed be Almighty God for the same) do make, publish & declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following: First, I resign my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, hoping & believing in a re-mission of my sins, by the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ; and my Body I commit to the Earth, from whency it came; And my worldly Estate I give and devise as follows: First, I give and devise the Tract of Land on which I now reside to be divided between my two Daughters Jane Ferguson and Charlotte Newman in the following manner, to wit, beginning on the eastern boundary of the tract in the centre of the pub-lic Road, and thence with road westwardly, as it now runs through & with a lane across the tract to the western boundary lane: The Southern division, together with the whole of the adjoining tract of thirty four acres which I purchased from John Samuel L Winston I give and devise to my Daughter Jane Ferguson To have and to hold all and every the said Lands, Tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances to her the said Jane Ferguson and her heirs ^and assigns forever. And the northern division of the aforesaid tract of Land, I give and devise unto my Daughter Charlotte Newman, to have and to hold all and every the said Land, Tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances to her the said Charlotte Newman and to her heirs forever. Also I give & bequeath unto my two Daughters Charlotte Newman and Jane Ferguson, to be equally divided between them, all the farming & plantation utensils; all the provisions of whatever kind, and the stock of hogs that may remain on, belong, or appertain to the premises at the period of my decease. Item, I give and bequeath [page torn] unto my eldest Daughter [page torn] Elizabeth Benoist a Negro   Page 2 boy slave named (young?) Longford, and my [carriage?] [obscured by tear and tape] which I desire to be put in complete repair & the harness renewed if necessary of the expense paid out of my Estate. Item, I give and bequeath unto my eldest Son William Dunbar the following negro slaves, to wit, Edwin, (yellow) Claiborne, (little) Claiborne, Milly & her two Children Elizabeth & Louisa, together with any natural increase that may accrue. Item, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Ferguson in addition to the bequest herein before made the following named slaves, to wit, (old) Longford & Mary his Wife, Noah, Trim, Flora & her three children Peggy, Grace & Patsey. ^ with their natural increase Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son James Dunbar the following named slaves, to wit, (old) Romeo, Humphrey, Elbert, Tilda, Eliza & her child Lucy ^with their natural increase. Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Charlotte Newman & her heirs in addition & in like manner to the devise herein before made, the following named slaves, to wit Dave, Bess, Harry, Aggy, and William with their natural increase. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Dunbar the following named slaves, to wit (old) Harry, (young) Romeo + (young) Emanuel. Item, I give and bequeath unto my ^son Samuel Dunbar the following named Slaves, to wit, Solimon, Lewis, (old) Emanuel, his wife Hannah and their four children Thomas, Henry, Andrew and Harriet with their natural increase. My sons Isaac & Robert Dunbar having already each received a greater proportion of my estate than any of my other children I therefore make no special bequest to them now. And having heretofore at various and sundry times given and distributed to & among all my children parts of my Estate both real and personal, all of which is now in their possession respectively, and whereas some of those gifts have been by Deeds; some by assignments & others verbally I do hereby ratify and confirm all the said gifts, grants and donations, whether written or verbal, of all the property, real, personal or mixed so given and distributed as aforesaid, and now in their possession. Lastly, my household & kitchen furniture, my horses, oxen & cattle, and all the   Page 3 the rest and residue of my personal estate, whatsoever & wheresoever, of what nature & kind soever the same may be, and not herein before given and disposed of (after payment of my debts, legacies & funeral expenses) I do give and bequeath unto all my children, to be equally divided amongst them share & share alike according to valuation. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my Sons James, Joseph & Samuel Dunbar Executors of this my last will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty six.
