Mississippi Bicentennial Celebration

"Mississippi celebrated the 200th anniversary of statehood on December 10, 2017. Communities around the state joined the celebration with events and activities throughout the year, culminating in the opening of the Museum of Mississippi History and Mississippi Civil Rights Museum in Jackson in December 2017. The state bicentennial celebration was spearheaded by the Mississippi Bicentennial Celebration Commission, established by the state legislature in 2008. Other partners in planning the bicentennial were the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, Visit Mississippi, and other state and local institutions. This website, created by Mississippi State University, served as a gateway for events and information about bicentennial activities throughout Mississippi."
