Description
Pictured above is a group of ten officers of the Corps of Engineers and twelve civilian graduate students from the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, College Station, Texas. To the extreme left is S. J. Buchanan, Professor of Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering, and on the far right is Dr. H. J. Miles, Professor of Hydraulic Engineering. Professor Buchanan, a former member of the Waterways Experiment Station staff, plans and arranges an annual field trip to the Corps of Engineers offices in Vicksburg each spring. The group spent Monday visiting the Vicksburg reservation of the Waterways Experiment Station and visted the Jackson suboffice this morning. This afternoon they were visiting the Vicksburg National Military Park and Old Courthouse Museum. On Wednesday the group will visit the Vicksburg District.
