Description
This postcard features a color illustration of the Mississippi State Capitol building, a long, four story building with a large dome in the center and two lower domes on each end. Trees and people are depicted at the sidewalk in front of the building and a horse drawn carriage is depicted on the street. An image of the Seal of the State of Mississippi is drawn in red and blue in the upper right of the image. "Oilett" is written in the lower right corner of the image and the title of the card is printed sideways along the right edge of the card. A brief description or history of the state is printed on the back in the upper left corner. The description reads "The State Capitol of Mississippi is located in the city of Jackson. The state has an area of 46,810 square miles, and was admitted to the Union in 1817. The floral Emblem of the State is the magnolia. Mississippi takes its name form the Mississippi River, an Indian word signifying the "union of many streams."
