This postcard features a color illustration of the Barataria Canning Factory and fishing vessels in Biloxi, Mississippi. The factory buildings are to the right and the fishing vessels are in the water near the shore. The title is printed in the top right corner of the image. The back of the postcard is addressed to Mrs. H. C. Sears in Danville, Indiana. The card is postmarked Hattiesburg, Miss. the Shelby Branch, October 31, 1917 and a green, once cent George Washington postage stamp is in the upper right corner. An inscription is written on the left half of the card. [see transcription field]
Dear Sis--Just a line to let you know that I received your letter and appreciated hearin gfomr you very much. I am alright as usual and am getting fat again. I weighted 156 Pounds at Gulfport last Sunday. Had several square meals while there and had two dozen fried oysters which cost only 25 cents a doz. Seafood is cheap at Gulfport. Will write a letter Real soon Hugh [sic]
