Description

This postcard features a sepia toned image of a group of young children seated in three rows on the front steps of a building with an older woman standing behind the last row. The children are a mix of boys and girls. The back of the card is addressed to Mrs. H. E. Holliday in Canton, Mississippi and is postmarked Birmingham, R. P. O., October 24, 190?. Inscriptions are written on the left half of the card with the top inscription identifying the image as being from the public school in Itta Bena, Mississippi and identifies Hattie Boone in the middle row, 2nd from left. Dear Grandmother--Can you find me in this crowd this is my teacher and school mates. I am having to read fast. With much love Hattie Hamilton Hollerman [sic]
