This color postcard features a large red brick four story hotel with green molding on the siding above the first floor. A sign for "Hotel Gilmer" protrudes from the center of the front facade and a sign in the shape of a coffee cup that reads "Coffee Shop" protrudes from the area above the first floor on the left corner of the building. The building next door bares a sign for "Western Union." The title in the upper left reads "The Gilmer Hotel, Columbus, Miss." The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides artist information as well as indication for postage stamp placement. Advertisement information in the upper left reads "The Gilmer Hotel Columbus, Mississippi An Institution Old in Tradition, but New in Appointments. Located on Main Street U. S. Highways 82-45--State Highways 12-69 J. O. Slaughter, Vice-Pres. Mgr." Text at the bottom left edge invites "Visit Our Duncan Hines Approved Coffee Shop and Gardenia Room."
