Conservatory of Music, Female College, Meridian, Mississippi
This postcard features the Conservatory of Music building on the Meridian Female College, a three story, red brick building with Spanish details on the roofline of the bump-out sections. A sign for the conservatory is above the third floor windows of the bump-out on the right. Pine trees are in front of the conservatory. The title of the card is printed in red along the bottom left of the image. Founded by John Wesley Beeson in 1903 as the Meridian Woman’s College to which was added the Conservatory of Music in 1904, the school merged with Beeson’s Meridian Male College in 1914 (which he had founded also in 1902), becoming known as the Meridian College and Conservatory. Highly regarded while Beeson led it the school was sold in 1920, closed in 1929, and was torn down ca. 1932.

The title of the card is printed in the upper left of the image and pink and green florals on a yellow background are illustrated on each end of the card. The back of the card is addressed to Mrs. William Folnoble in Newport, New York. A brief inscription on the upper left of the card reads "Very warm here 94 in the shade" [sic] and "Charles M." is signed at the bottom center of the card. The card is postmarked Starkville, Miss., May 31 and a red, two cent George Washington postage stamp is placed in the upper right.

Happy Hollow at the Neshoba County Fair, Philadelphia, Mississippi
This postcard features a color image of the cabins and dwellings occupied by attendees of the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia, Mississippi. A line of wooden structures on either side of a walkway shows people seated on the porches. A white banner is strung across the alley that reads "Welcome to Happy Hollow" and proclaims the hollow to be "The fair's original organized community. "A paragraph on the upper left of the back of the card reads "Neshoba County Fair Philadelphia, Miss. Welcome to Happy Hollow--a part of the nations most unusual county fair. Many fair visitors move into their "homes" on Monday and stay until Sunday, bringing their furnishings, bedding, food, etc. with them. Bare-back and harness horse racing. See the colorful Choctaw Indians in original dress. This Fair is unlike any you've seen anywhere else."

A green one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner and the card is postmarked three times. The first postmark is Meridian, Mississippi, August 4, 1908. The second postmark is Chattanooga, Tennessee, August 8, 1908. The third postmark is illegible. The card is inscribed and is addressed to Miss Emily Hajos in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
