Description

This postcard features a black and white image of a college dormitory on the Blue Mountain College campus in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. The dorm is a three story building with a porch and two balconies that run the length of the building and have white porch columns and railings. Two large chimney's are spaced evenly on the roof. Young women are seated on the lawn in front of the dorm and some are standing in front of the porch as well as on the second floor balcony. "This Looks better than the picture does" is written across the second story balcony railing. The title of the card is printed in red in the upper left corner of the image. The back of the card is addressed to Miss Rosa Moody in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. The card is postmarked Blue Mountain, Mississippi, March 11, 1908 and a green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner. An inscription is written sideways on the left half of the card.

Transcription

Dear Rosa, Your letter was gladly read just a little while ago. I was so glad to know you were all welll. Just could not wait to write to tell you not to send me your silk waist. Surely I must have been unconscientious when I asked you to send it. It sure was dear of Papa to get the waists for me. You cand make the most anyway. But I do want one open in the back. And you and Hex had better keep some for yourselves. Wish I could see you in your new dress know it is pretty You are a sport in Crystal Springs aren't you? I'm surprised at Mr. A letting cousin Lela go. I don't see how people are to get along without her. What is Dodde doing now days. I never hear from him It is real cool here today. Was real summer on Sunday. Honey its longer than two months till I'll see you dear little children. Nearly 3 with love from Lela [sic]
