This postcard features a color illustration of a Modenian banner for the Modenian Literary Society at Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. The title of the card is printed in the lower left of the card and an inscription is written in the white space around the banner. The back of the card is addressed to Miss Bess Parker in Memphis, Tennessee. The card is postmarked Moscowga, Tennessee, August 7, 1911 and a green, one cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner. An inscription is written sideways on the left half of the card. [see transcription field]

Transcription

[on the back] Dear Bess, --Rec'd your card some time ago, but I got so vexed at not getting any more mail, that I said I wasn't going to write to a soul until I got some more. I am glad you enjoyed the Picnic, or at least I hope you did not tell an Ananias when you said you did. I liked Miss Bridwell very much but won't embarrass you by saying what I think of you on a postal. When are you going to come? Let me know. I saw in the paper that Asha McLendon and Edna Tate were married. Ollie Neel is coming to see Beulah. I heard that Mrs. Berry is very sick. Aunt Alice and Annie Frost are here today. No, I havn't heard from P-- Lately. Write soon. As ever, Kathleen. [sic]
