Description

This postcard features the three story I. I. O. F Building, Lodge Number 127, on Front Street in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. A sign for I. O. O. F. is over the front entrance and a sign that reads "Oliver and Burkes Contractors" is propped on the left side of the entrance. A balcony with decorative corbels and railing is on the third floor in front of tall windows that are accentuated by round windows above the small gables over them. A horse is seen standing beside the sidewalk in front of the building. The title is printed along the bottom of the card. "Mrs. Sherman" is written at the top of the card. the back of the card is addressed to Miss Stella Shipley in New Orleans, Louisiana. The card is postmarked Hattiesburg, Miss., August 7, 1908 and a green, one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner. An inscription is written on the left half of the card. Hburg, Aug 7 08 Dear Miss Stella I rec'vd a telegram from [?] saying he'd be in N.O. Sat night and sun A. M. so we decided to go home Sun. A. M. arriving about 10:30 Please have 50 lbs of ice sent in [?] [sic]
