Description
This postcard features a black and white portrait of the S. A. French Family in Hattiesburg, Mississippi Ca. 1908. Sanford A. French (Sept. 3, 1845-April 18, 1917), a Virginian-born engineer and grocer is pictured with his Kentucky-born wife Harriette “Hattie” E. Hickman French (Oct. 16, 1863-March 9, 1932). Their daughter, Gay is pictured behind Harriette and the two women at the back are unidentified. All the women are wearing white dresses and French is wearing a bowler hat with a suit and bowtie. The group is standing in front of a porch with flowers and plants in front of them. A porch swing is partially visible on the porch to their left.
