This black and white photograph features Dr. Helen G. Edmonds wearing a black and white patterned dress with a white corsage and wire-rimmed eyeglasses. Edmonds was the first African-American woman to earn a doctorate from Ohio State University, as well as the first African-American woman to become a graduate school dean, and the first to second the nomination of a United States presidential candidate.
