Description
This black and white photograph shows Jackson State University president, Dr. John Peoples, Jr., posing with the trophy winning basketball team for a specialty post of Explorers organized on the Jackson State University Campus. The caption typed below the image states that most of the 41 members of the Post are from Lanier High School, though the Specialty Posts are open to males and females in grades 9-12. In the photograph, Peoples is standing in front holding one edge of the trophy while team members hold the center and right edge. Sixteen young Black men are pictured with Peoples. A row of school desks are seen in front of where the group is gathered.
