Description

This black and white photograph shows a view of the French ivory statuette, Virgin and Child of the Sainte-Chapelle, created in the 13th century in Paris, France. The statuette depicts the Virgin Mary in a three point crown with a head veil beneath it and a flowing draped dress while she holds a small ball in one hand and the baby, Jesus in her arms. The baby is reaching toward the toy in his mother's hand and both are smiling. The base of the statuette is partially seen at the bottom of the image.
