Description
In this letter, dated February 20, 1959, Archer B. Gay, the Grand Secretary for The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Free Masons, writes to Myrtis S. Wineman in response to her question about William Williams' association with the Grand Lodge. He tells her that there are many William Williams throughout Virginia and goes on to name two instances of a William Williams' participation in the Grand Lodge. The letter is written on The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Free Masons letter head and Wineman's handwritten notes for a follow up letter are written in the upper right.

Wm Wms--many of them; are your records open to Genealogists or researchers? Any Wm Wms member of lodges in Fairfax to near Alex [and] Mt. Vernon? Did members make wills on entering masons; nothing after 1803 is any help.
