MSS. 543. 1763-2006. 57 cubic feet. Collection of Lowndes County plantation owner Drennan C. Love and family includes a 900 page manuscript reminiscence of his son, William Alexander Love, written in 1925. Love was a planter, writer, historian and amateur archaeologist. The William Alexander Love reminiscence includes references to African-Americans' membership in Bethel Church (Lowndes County, Miss.), slavery and slaves, an African-American wedding, and customs and behavior in general. Other topics mentioned include the Freedman's Bureau and Uncle Remus. The reminiscence has been transcribed and indexed.
