Abstract
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 seeks to develop a sustainable and competitive sports ecosystem, requiring a shift toward modern, data-driven training practices across professional and semi-professional clubs. This study examines the implementation and challenges of adopting modern training strategies specifically technology integration, injury prevention protocols, and specialized support among coaches in Saudi clubs, with a focus on factors influencing successful adoption. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining a quantitative survey (N=52) with semi-structured interviews (N=35) quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, logistic regression, and K-means clustering to identify predictors of technology use and classify coaches based on resource access and training philosophy. Findings indicate that although awareness of modern training strategies is high, implementation remains moderate and inconsistent. Coach education and access to resources were associated with greater adoption of advanced tools such as video analysis. Cluster analysis identified three profiles: aspirational adopters (high motivation, limited resources), resource-rich traditionalists (high resources with lower technology engagement), and integrated innovators (high resources and high adoption). Qualitative findings highlight cultural resistance and limited knowledge-sharing systems as key barriers. Achieving the objectives of Vision 2030 requires coordinated interventions that enhance resource access, strengthen coach education, and promote structured knowledge exchange to support effective implementation of modern training strategies in Saudi sports clubs.
