Abstract
Deer damage to row crops has been an ongoing issue in the state of Mississippi, and hail damage can be catastrophic. The objective of this research was to evaluate soybean response following simulated deer and hail damage at specific growth stages and damage levels. Soybean yield response to deer damage indicates the singular feedings of 75 % results in a loss of up to 2688.32 kg ha-1 in most scenarios, and continual feeding at the 50 % level leads to a yield reduction of up to 2168.81 kg ha-1 in all scenarios. Hail damage at V3 and R1 growth stages at the 50 % level leads to a reduction of up to 3717.24 kg ha-1 and damage at the 75 % level results in reductions of up to 4790.11 kg ha-1. Any damage occurring during the R3 growth stage led to reductions in yield of up to 4825.19 kg ha-1.
