Description
Oral history; interview with Dr. Hunter Andrews, conducted May 14, 2012, Mitchell Memorial Library, Mississippi State University. Dr. Andrews was born in 1932 in Starkville, Mississippi. He is a retired Mississippi State Agronomist and Seed Technologist. Andrews first came to the Mississippi State campus as a senior in high school doing summer work. He enrolled as a student in 1950. He obtained all three of his degrees at the Mississippi State, starting with his Bachelor's degree in 1954, his Master's degree in 1958, and his PhD in 1960. During his tenure at Mississippi State, Andrews worked with the internationally-recognized Seed Technology Program and travelled internationally with that program for the University. He also worked with the Mississippi Foundation for Seed Stocks. Andrews retired from MSU in 1995. Although he never worked in the Lloyd-Ricks building, he has many memories of the landmark building and the people who worked there. In this interview, Andrews discusses the Agronomy Department's history in Lloyd-Ricks, the Seed Technology Laboratory, and his international travels for MSU.
