Description

Oral history; interview with Marco W. Nicovich, Research Photographer, conducted on April 23, 2012, Mitchell Memorial Library, Mississippi State University. Nicovich was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in 1947. He first came to Mississippi State as a student in 1968 and received his Bachelor's degree from the University. He was hired by MSU in 1977. Nicovich worked as a Research Photographer for MAFES (Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station) Editorial in the Lloyd-Ricks Building. When the three Division units - MAFES, Extension, and the Veterinary College - combined their communication departments in 1989, Nicovich moved from Lloyd-Ricks into Bost Extension Center and worked in the newly-formed Office of Agricultural Communications until his retirement in 2009. Nicovitch received many awards during his career; his photos were featured in many state newspapers as well as University publications. In this interview, Nicovich discusses the pre-renovation Lloyd-Ricks Building, the makeup of the MAFES Editorial Office, and recent changes in technology as they relate to photography.
