    This agreement between Peleg Clarke Jr. and John M. Herndon, dated April 26, 1860, declares that the men are going into the house construction and repair business together with Clarkee supplying and managing the machine shop factory for eight hundred dollars annually and Herndon to furnish five thousand dollars as needed for the co-partnership to be repaid with interest. The agreement goes on to outline all other aspects and considerations for the business partnership and is signed by both Herndon and Clarkee.

    This document lists the claims made by Peleg Clarkee for bills owed him with the percent and no more on the account collected the costs of suits to be first taken out of the receipts. The list of charges begin in 1860 and go through 1862 for a grand total of three thousand, three hundred and seventy-six dollars and sixty-eight cents as presented by Major Braxton and Wallace.

    This certificate, numbered 289, certifies that Peleg Clarkee, Jr. is entitled to twenty-five shares of the Capital Stock of the Melville Gold Mining Company. The certificate is signed by William C. Ford, the company secretary and John Callallon, the president of the company. The corticate includes imagery of men working in mines and declares that the Melville Gold Mining Company was "organized under an act of the Legislature of New York, authorizing the Formation of Corporations, passed February 17, 1848."
