Description
This is a black and white illustration of Joseph E. Johnston, an American career army officer, entered the Confederate States Army as one of its most senior general officers. Johnston is depicted as wearing a double-breasted uniform with stars pinned along the collar. Johnstons' signature is depicted beneath the illustration and "Engraving by H. B. Halls Sons, New York" is captioned beneath the signature. This illustration is from volume four of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
