Description
This black and white illustration is of David Glasgow Farragut, a flag officer of the United States Navy during the American Civil War. Farragut is depicted as wearing a double breasted military uniform with epaulettes on the shoulders, a belt a the waist, and stitching on the cuffs. He is gripping the handle of a sword in his left hand. Farragut's signature is depicted beneath the illustration and "Likeness from the last photograph from life" is captioned beneath the signature. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
