This black and white illustration is of a ship at sea in a storm. A lifeboat is beside the ship and what appears to be flooded structures are in the water, flags flying from the roofs. "Merrimac", "Jamestown", "Yorktown", "Monitor", "Congress", "Cumberland", and "Minnesota" are captioned beneath the illustration. The artists' names are listed at the bottom corners of the illustration. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
