Description
This black and white illustration is of Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, a Confederate general (1861–1863) during the American Civil War, and became one of the best-known Confederate commanders, after Robert E. Lee. Jackson is depicted as wearing a dark double-breasted military uniform with a high collar that is lined with stars. Jackson's signature is depicted below the illustration and the engraver is named at the bottom of the page. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
