This is an original sepia toned photograph of four Union Naval Officers on deck of the USS Monitor. One officer is seated and three are standing around near him, all facing the gun turret where two sailors are standing. "486 is written on the right edge and near the bottom left corner of the photo. This photograph was found tipped into volume four, between pages 220-221 of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
