Description

This black and white illustration is of Joseph King Fenno Mansfield, a career United States Army officer, civil engineer, and a Union general in the American Civil War. Mansfield is depicted as wearing a dark, double-breasted military uniform with epaulettes on either shoulder. The engraver is named along the bottom edge of the illustration. "Brig. Gen. J.K.F. Mansfield, U. S. A." is captioned below the illustration with "From Photograph by Brady" beneath that. This illustration is in volume six of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
