Description
This sepia toned photograph is of Philip Kearny Jr., a United States Army officer, notable for his leadership in the Mexican–American War and American Civil War. He was killed in action in the 1862 Battle of Chantilly. Kearny is wearing a dark military uniform with a dark cloak, a bright belt, white gloves and a sword. There is visible damage on the edge of the right side of the photo. This photograph was found tipped into volume six, between pages 274-275 of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
