Description
This sepia toned photograph is of General Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general during the American Civil War, towards the end of which he was appointed the overall commander of the Confederate States Army. Lee is pictured seated wearing a dark suit and vest with a dark tie and white shirt. The photograph was found tipped into volume seven before the title page, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
