Description
This sepia toned photograph is of Don Carlos Buell, a United States Army officer who fought in the Seminole War, the Mexican–American War, and the American Civil War. Buell is wearing a dark, double-breasted military uniform with a high collar and shoulder boards. Buell is seated with his hand in his lap. There is damage along the bottom of the photo and a dark streak on the right above Buell's shoulder. This photograph was found tipped into volume six, between pages 12-13 of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
