This is an illustration of a road plan that was surveyed by Abraham Lincoln and others. The caption beneath the illustration reads "Autograph Plan of Road Surveyed by A. Lincoln and Others The lower half is the right-handed side of the plan which, in the original, is in one piece. The illustration is set within the text on page 256 of volume one of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
